Netflix's Next Gen Movie Review

Netflix's Net Gen

I spent the other day giving this movie 'Next Gen' a try. I kept seeing something online that stood out to me as far as how it was created. It's not everyday that you see a full length movie saying it was made in Blender 3D. Now for those of you who do not know what Blender 3d is, it is an open source computer 3d Program. So what does that mean? It means that this program is free to download and use. Yes you can go to the website and download this program now.

This gives regular people a little more hope that they can make something in 3d without spending up to a $1000 on a high end 3d program like 3d Max or Maya. Even though this program is open source doesn''t mean you can't do what the other big name softwares can. You can do just about what any other 3d program does out there. I did read also that Houdini (another 3d program) was used in this movie to do the simulations. But even if they used Houdini there is a free learning version out on their website too. And plenty of tutorials on their website to learn from! So if your interested in 3d and making movies Next Gen is a good place for inspiration.

I also found out that a lot if models had been made in zbrush. A program I highly recommend looking into!

Besides the fact it was made in Blender 3D  the story line to this movie is awesome! I found myself very surprised with the look, the humor and animation. I've noticed with a lot of Netflix shows and movies they don't hold back. I don't want to spoil the movie if you haven't seen it. But I highly recommend watching this if you liked Big Hero 6 and Wall-E. But give this movie a shot if your a Netflix subscriber or find a friend who has Netflix and watch it with them!
