Suggested Book - Abarat by Clive Barker

I've had this book on my bookshelf for a long time! Most of the time I pick up books and expect to read them that year, but things happen and it's now 5 years later. This book has been all over the book shelf waiting for it to be read. Well, I finally finished this book this week and wow I wish I hadn't waited so long to read it. On top of that it's a Clive Barker book, who is one of my favorite authors to read from. If you don't know about Clive Barker I highly recommend you looking up a few of his books! His writing will take you to other places only your mind can see.
This book feels like Alice in Wonder Land mixed with Wizard of OZ, in a dark sort of way. It takes you to another place that has plently of interesting characters along the way. It has been a while since reading a book that challenges the mind. The descriptions of characters that seem to force you into your own imagination of how they look. Something I really wish to do is create some of these characters in Zbrush, a 3d sculpting program, and recreate them.
Once thing I realize after finishing this book and looking online is that this book is a series. One of the few times I was actually happy to see a story continues as a series, cause I was still wanting to read more after! I now want to go to a half-price book store and find the reset of the books in the series.
So if your looking for a book that challenges the mind and takes you to another world. I really suggest this book. Again the story reads like a dream and continues to go down that rabbit hole if you continue to read.
