LOSING INSPIRATION
I deal with at times a bit of an artist block when doing any kind of art. For me I enjoy doing characters and creatures in my free time using software like Zbrush. Even doing just 2d drawings I often tend to do a bit more creatures. Sometimes it's not the lack of wanting to create but what to create. The blank page or empty canvas looking back at you. It is the starting part that always gets me when doing something artistic. But I find once I do start it builds momentum and the hard part is over on starting at all.
FINDING INSPIRATION
Now depending on where you live it can be tricky finding inspiration in your backyard, specially if you live in the city. But one way I find inspiration is from insects. And if your lucky enough to live in an area with unique bugs you'll see that they are more alien than anything you've seen on TV. So using your phone or a camera to start taking pictures. What I like about this is it gets you outside for one, and two it helps you see the world around you. I know you can search online and find images of bugs but seeing it with your own eyes really helps your brain process it. Also your able to get as many angles as needed to gather information on what your taking a picture of.
As you can see below are a few examples of what's crawling around outside.

I then save my renderings to the cloud or computer for later use when I have some trouble coming up with something new. I used one of the photos I captured and made a sketch of it and made it my own. Adding a few extra details to the insect and adding a figure for scale in my sketch. I find using this method gets you to appreciate the world around you and actually gets you looking for more.
