Linux Mint with Cinnamon
I've slowly started using Linux Operating Systems over the past few years. It started because I had a laptop that was old and didn't care to purchase windows to install. But over time I started to grow more curious about it can do. I started with Unbuntu and realized that this old laptop wasn't able to run it efficiently. So I start digging online for other Linux operating systems and came across Linux Mint.
The Install
The installation was fairly quick and easy. In fact once it installs it gives a welcome screen that gets you up and running with Mint with Cinnamon. Different themes really gives this OS its own sense of style. Once everything was set up I realized a lot of the software I had originally wanted was already installed with Mint. The main goal was to get a laptop that would be good to start learning Python with and do some word processing. After installing Mint it almost gave it that new car feeling to it. Everything so far runs great and I've had very little issues on getting things updated or installed.
My Thoughts
So over all I can't complain on this OS on this laptop I'm using even now to write this blog. It gets the job done and gives me a chance to carry around a laptop so I can start learning Python a bit better on the go. So if your looking to put some life back in to an older machine sitting around your house you might wanna try giving Linux Mint a look. And yes I like Unbuntu but it was too heavy for this old machine. But for now I have a working machine and added a few more years of life to this old laptop.
