A Bigger Garden!
My wife and I have been working on our home garden for a while now. And it feels like every year it
A Greenhouse
So I started out with a small design for a green house to build out in the backyard. But I listened to my wife and she said go bigger! And that has helped during the cold season to get seeds started a bit sooner! Not only does it keep your plants warm it keeps the bugs out if you don't have any openings for them to get inside.
Plants naturally will seed and grow.
The other thing that has kept our garden growing is that plants naturally will spread on their own. The tomatoes that we didn't get or fell to the ground all have seeds. And lets just say I have about 20 extra plants this year that I didn't plan for.
Compost
Now I've been doing compost for about 5 to 6 years now. And still don't know everything there is to know about it. It's a tricky balance of getting things just right just like gardening. But every year I have seeds sprout out of the compost and my gardener instinct is to move them or just let them be and put out food. I now have a fence line full of spaghetti squash hanging off of it.
Can't complain with all the extra food
Really can't complain on all the extra food this year we are going to get from our garden. Every year our Basil spread along with the mint. Tomato plants are always randomly growing in the yard some place. The strawberries always will spread as long as you let it. So having a garden gets easier as time goes on but you do have to maintain it and pull the weeds. But still a happy gardener here.
